Top Summer H-Street Restaurants

H-Street is food heaven this summer!

Summertime on H-Street is here, and we are so excited about all of the fun possibilities this bustling street will bring! Over the last year, a lot has changed. Some of our favorite restaurants have closed, and in many ways, we had to fall in love with new aspects of H-Street. One thing that hasn’t changed since the pandemic is the fantastic food options H-Street has to offer. Now, we understand it’s probably been a while since you have taken a food tour around the neighborhood, so we have you covered! Below is a list of 5 H-Street restaurants you need to try this Summer!

The world is opening back up and the summer season is primed for your enjoyment! So add these restaurants to your Summer food list, and let the good vibes roll!

Brine:

Brine is a brand new oyster bar-style restaurant that is known for its locally selected menu. Each food item is hand-picked daily from the region’s finest oystermen and seafood purveyors. This allows your eating experience at Brine to be amazingly fresh and unforgettable. In addition, this restaurant is famous for its daily happy hour from 5 PM-7 PM. So, of course, when you arrive, you have to try the bourbon street oysters! You will not regret it! Some other go-to food items include the mussels, the mahi-mahi, and the clam chowder. Also, be sure to grab a couple of glasses of Sauvignon Blanc from the happy hour menu to add an elegant experience to your visit.

This restaurant is perfect for a weekday change of pace or a nice weekend stop as you’re walking down H-Street.

Kitchen Cray:

If you haven’t been to Kitchen Cray, you have no idea what you’re missing! This H-Street restaurant is a bruncher’s dream spot! Their bar area is divided into sections that make it feel like you have your own dedicated space while you dine. The big windows also offer the entire restaurant space a warm aesthetic as you enjoy a lovely weekend brunch! Now for the food! Our favorite dish from Kitchen Cray is the fresh toast and chicken! As a pro-tip, you have to be sure to dip the chicken in their signature mambo sauce. Some other great food options include crab tots and lobster mac and cheese.

Once you visit Kitchen Cray one time, this location will immediately become your go-to spot all Summer.

DC Harvest:

DC Harvest is a family-owned restaurant that utilizes local ingredients to make up its excellent seasonal menu options. One of the features we love about DC Harvest is that they serve brunch all day long! We love their grilled lamb burger, and their pecan wood, smoked chicken wings are a hit every time!

As a bonus, DC Harvest also offers themed dinner and brunch menus on occasion; you have to be sure to sign up for their pre-order list whenever you see the promotion — We’re sure you will love it!

Crab Boss:

If you love fantastic seafood and even better scenery, Crab Boss is the place for you. This restaurant overlooks all of H-Street from its rooftop setting. Once you’re there, you are immediately in seafood heaven! Their entire menu is mouth-watering, but we love their cajun shrimp pasta and the boss fries that come topped with delicious crab meat!

Another thing we love about this restaurant is that the rooftop area also includes a bar! So after some good eating, you can walk right over to the bartender and wash down your food with a delicious cocktail or two.

Smokin Pig:

Smokin’ Pig is our go-to spot for a life-changing BBQ experience. The pitmaster has years of experience in the DC BBQ scene. This is made apparent by their brisket’s sensational taste, which is one of our favorite food items there! But above all, this H-Street restaurant is known for its signature ribs! Each rib platter is marinated in unique spices, making them some of the best ribs you will ever have! So good you don’t even need BBQ sauce!
