Volunteer opportunities allow us to give time back to our community and the local area, and there’s no better feeling. Skyland Workforce CenterSkyland-center

This center provides a variety of high-quality workforce development programs that help remove the many challenges and barriers to employment that many job seekers face. Since its launch in 2014, Skyland Workforce Center has helped over 4000 members of the community by providing educational resources in the form of classes in a variety of work-related categories. Volunteer by helping job seekers create or update their resumes, apply for a job online, write a cover letter, or reply to an email from an employer. building-bridges-logoBuilding Bridges Across the River (BBAR)

Looking to put those green thumbs to work? This is an incredible opportunity. Established in 2010 starting out as 21 raised beds along Oxon Creek in order to encourage healthy nutrition within the community by providing locally grown produce, this has evolved into one of the largest urban farms of its kind east of the Anacostia River. BBAR also offers numerous other volunteer opportunities that serve our DC community. Check out the events calendar to find out when and how you can volunteer!


Humane Rescue Alliancelogo-home-HRA

this one is for all you animal lovers out there! Not only can you adopt or foster a fur baby of your own, but there are also opportunities to volunteer by taking dogs on a run, working at HRA’s special events, assisting medical staff with veterinary services, and much more. this multi-faceted organization does so many things to increase access to items and services for low-income individuals in DC. Help sort and arrange clothing donations, help out at the good pantry, or help out administratively. Are you a licensed health care professional or a legal professional? Suited For Changesuited-for-change

this incredible organization provides professional attire, coaching, and skills training to women in need who are seeking employment and has been part of the community for almost 30 years. From providing styling services and coaching sessions to their Professional Development Program, Suited for Change prepares its clients to thrive in a professional working environment.
